When it comes to marijuana strains, they often contain high levels of THC and low levels of CBD. While cannabis strains high in THC content are often better for inducing specific effects, strains with higher levels of CBD are better for those using marijuana for medicinal purposes.
The cannatonic marijuana strain is one of these strains that have been uniquely bred by the Spanish seed bank, Resin Seeds. Its higher levels of CBD content than THC makes it one of the most sought-after strains by cultivators.
With that said, here is a comprehensive guide about cannatonic seeds that will provide you with a deeper understanding of this unique strain of cannabis.

About Cannatonic Seeds
Resin Seeds, the Spanish seed bank behind the creation of this unique hybrid, was determined to breed a new hybrid strain that had a 50-50 or 1:1 ratio of indica to sativa. Because of this, they crossed the genetics of a male G13 Haze plant with a specially bred female MK Ultra strain.
This resulted in what we now know as the cannatonic marijuana strain which contains a surprisingly lower level of THC and higher levels of CBD. This strain inherited the euphoria-inducing effects of its G-13 Haze parent as well as the numbing effects of the MK Ultra.
The goal was to create a hybrid strain that provided plenty of health benefits, particularly to patients that use medical marijuana to treat various conditions.

Cultivating Cannatonic Marijuana from Seeds
Cannatonic seeds are considered as moderately difficult to grow compared to other types of cannabis seeds. However, due to their many benefits, particularly when it comes to alleviating the symptoms of various health conditions, it’s definitely worth your while.
Furthermore, it produces incredible yields, provided it is given optimal growing conditions, whether grown indoors or outdoors.
1. Growing Environment
This marijuana strain enjoys a Mediterranean type of climate, especially since it traces its origins to Spain where it can enjoy plenty of sunlight all year round. Due to this, it prefers a moderately warm climate and plenty of natural light.
However, this doesn’t mean you can’t grow it properly out of the Mediterranean area. As long as you manage to replicate a similar kind of environment, it’ll thrive.
It can be grown indoors and outdoors but outdoor cultivation requires a more specific timeframe as opposed to the controlled environment of indoor cultivation. When choosing to grow them outdoors, the ideal time is in May when the weather is starting to become warmer.
Planting them during this time will ensure that your crops will be ready for harvest no later than October.
-
Temperature
As mentioned, they prefer warmer Mediterranean-like climates and so for best results, its growing environment’s temperature should be around 65° to 85° Fahrenheit. Exceeding this will slow down its growth and can delay your harvest time by up to 2 weeks.
-
Humidity
Cannatonic seeds don’t have the same resistance to mold and mildew as other strains so it thrives more in drier environments. It’s ideal to keep the humidity levels at a minimum or at least less than 50% to ensure that it doesn’t become susceptible to molds and mildew.
-
Nutrients
Like any plants, it requires nutrients and a well-rounded NPK fertilizer would be enough to provide it with the nutrients it needs to thrive. However, it’s best to keep it on the low end to avoid overfertilizing unless it’s nearing its flowering time – during which you need to increase the ratio to ensure maximum yields.
-
Lighting
It can be exposed to lighting, whether natural or artificial, for 24 hours each day during its vegetative state. However, it’s recommended that you keep it on a cycle of 18-6 until it’s time to force it to flower.
-
pH Level
Most veteran cultivators found that this strain thrives best with a pH level of around 6.2 to 6.5, meaning the soil needs to have more alkaline.
2. Flowering Time
Cannatonic seeds are ready to be harvested in about 10 to 11 weeks from germination. While 10 to 11 weeks is the average, they might flower as early as 9 weeks or as late as 12 weeks, depending on your strain’s phenotype.
It’s recommended to inspect your plants’ trichomes with a magnifying glass to guarantee their potency and ripeness.
3. Height
As a 50/50 indica/sativa hybrid, cannatonic seeds grow into medium-sized plants when cultivated indoors. As such, they can grow to a height of up to 6 feet indoors. However, given the right growing conditions, they can grow into a full-sized cannabis tree at a minimum height of 6 feet when grown outdoors.
With its 1:1 ratio of indica to sativa, they tend to grow primarily in height rather than width. For indoor cultivators, it’s ideal to implement growing techniques to allow you to maximize its yields while controlling its height.
Nevertheless, its overall indoor height is usually manageable and won’t require you to raise your light sources to cover them.
Cannatonic’s Effects and Uses
The cannatonic cannabis strain is highly sought-after in the field of medical marijuana for good reason. It’s a fast-acting strain that provides short-lived highs but longer-lasting health benefits. This is because it contains more CBD than THC – the latter being the one responsible for marijuana’s psychoactive effects.
However, THC also has an impact on its overall effects as medical marijuana. Furthermore, it is rich in several terpenes such as pinene, myrcene, and caryophyllene.
Effects
Because of this, you can experience all the benefits it has to offer almost immediately such as:
- Pain relief
- Stress relief
- Euphoria
- Anxiety relief
Uses
The myrcene in this strain allows users to feel more relaxed and stress-free while the pinene helps uplift the mood, allowing users to feel great, both physically and mentally. Lastly, the caryophyllene is the terpene responsible for the reduction of inflammation – something that greatly reduces the pain.
It’s used to help alleviate the symptoms of an extensive variety of medical conditions, both physiological and mental.
For example, it can help relieve chronic pain, anxiety, stress, and depression. It can also help regulate sleep, allowing those suffering from sleep disorders like insomnia to get their much-needed rest without turning to sleeping pills.
Other benefits of this cannabis strain are its ability to help with health issues like glaucoma, seizures, multiple sclerosis, addiction, Parkinson’s disease, and even cancer. Because of its extensive range of health benefits, cannatonic has been likened to owning your own pharmacy.
Entourage Effect
One of the reasons why it’s so effective is because of a phenomenon called the “entourage effect.” Because of its unique combination of THC, CBD, and terpenes, the cannatonic strain helps users maximize the health benefits offered by it.
Side Effects
On the other hand, it does have some side effects although they are considered minor and rare. Paranoia is often a common side effect with marijuana but due to its low THC content, it’s unlikely you will experience it with this strain.
Other side effects include dry mouth and red eyes which are typical side effects when using marijuana.
